STOCKTON, CA - Central Catholic Head Coach Roger Canepa gave the game ball to junior lineman Spencer Stark after the team's 52-10 D-IV CIF Sac-Joaquin Championship victory over Escalon Saturday afternoon.
Stark made the emotional decision to play in the game the day after his father passed away.
"I think when people die they don't want you to mourn over it," said an extremely mature and composed Stark after the game. "And I know this is what he would want to get that "W" which we did."
On twitter, before and after the game, his fellow players and the community rallied around Stark.
"Today I am playing my heart out in the Section Championship for one of our Brothers #75 Spencer Stark," tweeted Raiders running back Rey Vega (@ReyVega23).
And Raider quarterback Garret Ardis (@garretardis7) also tweeted, "Seeing Spence in the lockerroom after the game was the best part."
