Family of man shot dead by Manteca officer releases video of shooting

MANTECA, CA - Graphic police patrol unit camera video of a Manteca police officer confronting and fatally shooting a wanted suspect was released by the dead man's family Wednesday following a multi-agency investigation (PDF attached) concluding the officer was justified in the shooting.

The video shows Officer James Moody firing numerous shots at suspect Ernesto Duenez Jr., 34, on the 200 block of Flores Avenue on June 8, 2011. Police had been on the look-out for Duenez in connection with an earlier domestic violence incident.

In the video, the officer is heard shouting at Duenez to drop his knife or he would shoot.

During the autopsy, the San Joaquin County coroner found 11 bullets struck Duenez.

Tracy school parent accused of making terrorist threats

TRACY, CA - A Lathrop father was arrested after allegedly making phone threats to harm a student at his child's elementary school Tuesday morning.

Wanda Hirsch Elementary School at 1280 Dove Drive was placed on lockdown status at 8:15 a.m., said Tracy Unified School District Asst. Supt. Dr. Sheila Harrison.

The father, identified by Tracy police as 37-year-old David Michelucci, is accused of calling the school at 8:08 a.m. and threatening to harm another student in retaliation for an incident involving his child Monday, said Lt. Mark Duxbury.

Officers went to Michelucci's home and took him into custody.

No one was hurt at the school. The lockdown was lifted at 9:30 a.m.

Police seek identity of Tracy bank robbery suspect

TRACY, CA - Security camera photos of a man Tracy police say robbed a local bank were released Thursday.

The bank was Chase Bank at 2620 S. Tracy Boulevard on Nov. 21 about 9:20 that Wednesday morning. Det. Timothy Bauer said a man went up to a teller, demanded money and left with an undisclosed sum.

Witnesses said the robber left in an older model green Toyota Camry.

The robber was described as light-skinned, about 6 feet 1 inches tall with an average build. He wore a black, hooded sweatshirt, dark-colored pants, baseball cap with a white brim and sunglasses.

Bauer said the man may have been loitering in the shopping center where the bank is located before the crime.

Police search for bank robbery suspect

The Tracy Police Department responded to a bank robbery at about 9:20 AM on Wednesday, November 21, 2012. A male suspect entered the Chase Bank at 2620 S. Tracy Blvd and robbed it. The suspect demanded money from the teller and left with an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect was seen leaving in an older green Toyota Camry. The vehicle is similar to the one pictured below.

The suspect was described as being a light skinned male, about 6'1" with an average build. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, dark colored pants, baseball cap with white brim, and sunglasses. He may have been loitering in the shopping center before the robbery.

Former Manteca controller charged with embezzling $950,000

SACRAMENTO, CA - A Manteca man has been indicted on 20 counts of embezzling more than $950,000 from his employer.

Chris Barna, 33, was arrested Wednesday for allegedly stealing from M & C Association Management Services Inc. which performs association management and developer services in Northern California. Barna was the controller for M & C.

According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, Eastern District of California in Sacramento, Barna is accused of misappropriating 342 checks made out to M & C or its parent company between April 2008 and May 2011. The prosecution says Barna forged false endorsements of the payee and signed "deposit only" on the checks before putting them into accounts under his name at Wells Fargo Bank. Documents show he used the ill-gotten funds for his own expenses and adjusted M & C financial records to hide the fraud.

SWAT targets major San Joaquin Co. gang in morning raids

STOCKTON, CA - SWAT officers arrested numerous members of a prevalent San Joaquin County gang and confiscated drugs and weapons during multiple raids Wednesday morning, according to police.

Stockton police Officer Joe Silva said the SWAT units stormed 10 homes in Stockton and one in Lathrop, serving search warrants based on an ongoing investigation into street branch of the Norteno gang currently involved in an internal feud.

During a search at a property on the 7400 block of East Main Street, officers discovered a device they deemed suspicious. The bomb squad was called to the property and the object was destroyed.

Two people were arrested at the home, bringing the total number of arrests made to six.

Silva said the Stockton Police Department would hold a press conference on Thursday detailing the operation.

Police: 2 arrested for pretending to be officers in Manteca

MANTECA, CA - Two men were arrested for impersonating police officers and trying to disband a party in a rural south Manteca home Saturday night.

Kyle Clogston, 18, of Manteca and Marcus Bradford, 19, of Lodi went to a house party on the 22400 block of S. Manteca Road around 10:30 p.m., identified themselves as officers and told the people to break up the party, said the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office.

The two men were dressed in tactical-style uniforms, with ballistic and tactical vests. Bradford had a badge that looked like a police badge; Clogston told the party goers that he was an officer, the sheriff's department said.

Both men also had multiple air-soft rifles and pistols, which had the orange tips painted black so they looked like real firearms.

A third person, a male juvenile, was at the scene with the two men, but remained in the car and did not say he was an officer. Deputies talked to the boy then released him to his father.
