Lathrop man literally fights back against copper theft
Crime

LATHROP, CA - A man trying to steal copper fuses from an air conditioner on the 100 block of Steward Road was thwarted by a threatened civilian on Saturday.

The San Joaquin County Sheriff's office told the Stockton Record that 34-year-old Jason Brown, armed with a pair of shears in one hand and a screwdriver in the other, was attempting to vandalize the A/C unit around 7:00 a.m. when he was spotted by the bystander. Brown then took what the Sheriff's Office described as an "aggressive stance," and told the man he was armed with a knife.

Fearing for his safety, the would-be victim took his own aggressive stance, punching then subduing Brown.

Brown was later arrested and booked in to San Joaquin County Jail.
